In
the Valle (Valley) del Maipo, soars the Cerro Marmolejo,
the most southern 6.000 m high mountain, which forms together
with the Volcano San Jose a vast massif. An impressing landscape
and glaciers, reflecting the eruptions of the volcano, are
also part of the expedition.
Level
:
It requires a good physical condition and the capacity to
bear sustained physical efforts. Normally it also requires
a basic training in certain disciplines or field activities.

1st
day: Santiago - Camp 1
8:30a.m.
Pick up and transfer of passengers from the hotel in Santiago
to the "Cajón del Maipo". Distance: 100
Km, duration of journey: 2 hours
We
will travel until the Engorda Valley and camp 1 at 3.,400
meters.
Trekking time: 5 horas
On
the first day we will be supported by mules, then the luggage
will be distributed among the travellers.
2nd
day Camp 1 - Camp 2
Trekking
from Camp 1 to Camp. 2, located at 4.100 meters above sea
level
Trekking time: 4 hours.
3rd
day Rest in Camp 2
Rest
and little trek around camp
4rd
day Camp 2 - Camp 3
Trekking
from camp 2 to camp 3. C3 is located at 4.900 meters above
sea level. At this point begins the Marmolejo glacier
Trekking time: 5 - 6 hours
5th
day First attempt to the summit
Crossing the glacier
The ascent to the summit takes about 6 to 7 hours
The descent takes aproximately 5 hours.
6th
day Camp 3 - Santiago
Trekking time: 5 to 6 hours
If
it is bad weather, we can use this day for another summit
attempy
